    Support Residence Matron

    Candlelight Foundation for Children with Special Needs is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children with varying abilities. We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and highly organized Support Residence Matron to oversee the day-to-day care and wellbeing of residents in our Candlelight Support Residence. The Support Residence Matron plays a vital role in maintaining a homely, supportive environment for children with special needs. This position involves ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of the residents, supervising daily routines, supporting personal care needs, and promoting a sense of safety, dignity, and respect.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct care and emotional support to children residing in the Candlelight Support Residence.
    • Ensure daily routines (meals, hygiene, school preparation, bedtime, etc.) are followed with consistency and compassion.
    • Supervise and mentor care staff and ensure adherence to policies and care standards.
    • Monitor residents’ health, behavior, and wellbeing, and report any concerns promptly.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly living environment.
    • Liaise with therapists, educators, and medical personnel as needed to support residents\' development and care plans.
    • Keep accurate records of incidents, medication, and daily observations.
    • Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
    • Foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere that aligns with the Foundation’s values of care, respect, and dignity

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Experience working with children, preferably those with special needs, in a residential or caregiving setting.
    • Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
    • Basic understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and special education needs (SEN).
    • Relevant certification in caregiving, child development, social work, or related fields is an advantage.
    • Strong sense of responsibility and dependability.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
