    Solar Sales Engineer

    Job Overview

    • Solar Depot is seeking a skilled solar sales engineer with a proven track record of technical sales experience in the solar industry.
    • This role focuses on developing and nurturing relationships with clients, offering expert consultation on solar inverter systems, and providing custom solutions to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify and qualify potential leads, assessing client needs and providing tailored solar inverter solutions.
    • Conduct on-site visits, evaluate installation sites, and analyze energy requirements.
    • Present proposals, including technical specifications, ROI analysis, and financial incentives, to educate and persuade clients.
    • Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to create custom solar inverter solutions for unique client requirements.
    • Review site assessments, energy usage data, and structural requirements to recommend appropriate system configurations.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the sales and installation process, addressing technical questions and troubleshooting issues as needed.
    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, providing ongoing support and guidance post-installation.
    • Work with the customer support and service teams to ensure seamless post-sales service.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to provide strategic insights to the sales team.
    • Track sales metrics and provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on sales activity, leads, and conversion rates.
    • Collaborate closely with engineering, marketing, and product teams to align customer requirements with Solar Depot’s product capabilities.

    Requirements

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in solar sales, technical sales, or related engineering roles, ideally in the solar or renewable energy industry.
    • Deep understanding of solar inverter systems, photovoltaic (PV) modules, electrical design, and energy storage solutions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical details into value-based messaging for clients.
    • Proficient in energy modelling, site assessments, and ROI calculations, with strong attention to detail.
    • Strong negotiation and consultative selling abilities, with a history of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
    • Familiarity with solar design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst), CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to analyze complex technical and logistical issues and provide effective solutions that meet client needs.
