Job Description

The role involves gathering, verifying, writing and publishing news stories for an online platform managed by professional journalists. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of Nigeria\'s current affairs and a proven ability to produce accurate, engaging stories across multiple beats. They should possess sound editorial judgment, generate original story ideas, and thrive in a fast-paced digital newsroom.

Responsibilities

• Gather, verify and report news stories.
• Write, edit and publish articles to a high editorial standard.
• Develop original story ideas and follow leads independently.
• Keep up to date with personalities, trends and events in Nigeria.
• Attend events, conduct interviews and cultivate reliable sources.
• Publish content using WordPress.
• Optimise stories for search engines and social media.
• Work collaboratively with editors and other members of the newsroom to meet deadlines.

Requirements

• Excellent command of written English.
• Strong reporting, writing and self-editing skills.
• Broad knowledge of Nigerian current affairs and emerging trends.
• Sound editorial judgment and a commitment to accuracy and fairness.
• Proficiency in MS Office, WordPress, SEO and online research.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Grammarly to support research, editing and workflow is an advantage.
• Active presence on major social media platforms.
• At least three years\' reporting experience in print or digital journalism.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays when required.

Minimum qualification: OND.

Location

Proximity to Anthony Village, Lagos is an added advantage.
