Senior Data Analyst at YOA Consulting

Duties & Responsibilities
Management and Strategy:

• Oversee the activities of the data analyst personnel and ensure the efficient execution of their duties.
• Develops clear and well-structured analytical plans and analyse large data-sets
• Play a part in shaping the business’s data infrastructure, inclusive of data-warehousing, reporting, and analytics platforms.
• Identify, communicate, and endeavour to resolve data gaps that impact the fulfilment of the business’s functional requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and document potential data sources in support of project requirements within the assigned departments in the business.
• Build and operationalize processes that ensure timely data-loading and maintain accuracy and relevance of data used within the data department.

Support:

• Play a supporting role in the business, develop logical and conceptual data flows that are in support of departmental project requirements and guide various business departments in appropriate and effective use of data.
• Support and execute change management activities with regard to data analysis across business departments.
• Mine the business’ database in search of critical business insights and communicate findings to the relevant departments and the business at large.
• Identify and communicate risks and issues in projects/programs initiated by the assigned departments and communicate this information to the relevant leadership.
• Use data to guide assigned business departments through all programs and initiatives, enable continuous improvement in data quality, departmental performance, and overall business performance.

Collaboration:

• Work within and across the business in order to understand the business’s functional and data requirements.
• Work with senior data department management in ensuring constant compliance with standards and effect change where merited.
• Work with the business’ departmental heads, management, and key stakeholders, in developing detailed business requirements, conducting gap analyses, creating functional designs, and guiding the business’s leadership through analytical data processing when needed.

Analytics:

• Develop KPIs within the business for the purpose of identifying trends and evaluating the success of the business’s initiatives.
• Develop models and ad hoc reports, share observations and recommendations with senior data management, executives, and stakeholders for further consideration.
• Build statistical models, diagnose, validate, and improve the performance of these models over time.
• Liaise with the data warehouse teams to ensure the regular maintenance and upgrade of data warehouse servers such as SQL.

Knowledge and Opportunity:

Education / Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Membership of relevant professional body
• Must have at least 8 years’ experience in a world class organization out of which 2 years must be in a senior analytical role
• Proven experience in team and vendor management
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail, a head for problem solving and teamwork skills
• Must be efficient with Microsoft office tools
• Advanced use of Excel
• Basic programming skills
