WorkCentral Nigeria is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to lead and manage our in-house accounting operations and financial control functions. The ideal candidate will have 4 - 5 years of experience in financial accounting, a solid understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and the ability to take ownership of all day-to-day financial operations. This role supports strategic decision-making by delivering accurate financial reporting and ensuring financial integrity across the organization. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, tech-savvy and comfortable working in a fast-paced business support environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and oversee daily accounting operations
Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and statutory deductions
Perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations and monitor company cash flow
Take full ownership of financial control including budget management, cost control and variance analysis
Lead annual budgeting and support financial forecasting activities
Ensure timely compliance with FIRS, LIRS and other regulatory requirements
Collaborate with external auditors and tax consultants as needed
Maintain the fixed asset register and manage depreciation schedules
Review and improve internal accounting processes, policies and control.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4–5 years of hands-on accounting experience in a structured business environment
Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is mandatory
Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, accounting standards and reporting regulations
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Excel or Sage)
Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity
Ability to work independently and provide financial insight to management.
