Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Accountant to lead accounting, finance, and tax engagements while strengthening operational efficiency and client delivery standards.
This role involves managing the preparation of financial statements, supervising accounting operations, and delivering timely insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will play a key role in strengthening reporting processes, improving internal controls, and ensuring high-quality financial disclosures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all reports.
Manage and coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities across the finance team.
Review general ledger activities, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure data integrity.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, statutory requirements, and internal control policies.
Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support business strategy, budgeting, and forecasting.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to explain financial performance and key variances.
Support external audits by preparing required documentation and liaising with auditors.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
Identify and implement improvements in financial reporting processes, systems, and controls.
Support tax reporting and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements where necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is required
5–7 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial reporting.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple reporting cycles.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
