    Senior Accountant

    Job Overview

    The Senior Accountant will work with the Head of Finance for Nigeria. This will be a permanent role that will involve accounting, reporting as well as ensuring adherence to internal controls and statutory compliance. The Senior Accountant should also be someone with an interest in FP&A who is willing to learn how to work with growth models, analyse financial statements, forecast and budget.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform accounting functions including, but not limited to, verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions with a good understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with accompanying schedules, verify accuracy of all statements and maintain the integrity of balance sheet balances and inflow/outflow systems.
    • Maintain all  general ledgers and  related accounts with proper documentation and records of all transactions; review of entries to the general ledger to assure accuracy and compliance with the company’s and established accounting principles.
    • Assist with setting up accounting books and procedures for new countries as the business expands.
    • Ensure statutory reports such as CBN related reports and other regulatory reports are prepared and filed in time.
    • Coordinate annual external audits and prepare assigned schedules for the annual & interim audits.

    Qualifications

    • A finance-related degree, with ICAN/ACCA as an added advantage.
    • A minimum of 5 years  accounting experience, preferably  working in the financial service industry
    • Experience working with accounting software (Netsuite, QuickBooks, Oracle)
    • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of tools like SQL and Power BI is an advantage.
    • Accurate with precise attention to detail
    • Self-motivated, results focused and creative
    • Methodical approach and problem-solving skills
    • Able to work with tight deadlines and in a startup environment
