Second Officer at Uniterm Nigeria Limited

Duties & Responsibilities:  

• Understudies the Chief Officer.
• Shall have understanding and comply with all relevant sections of the company’s policies and management system.
• DP Watch keeper.
• Watch keeper when vessel is in conventional mode.
• The maintenance of all lifesaving and firefighting appliances/apparatus.
• Assist the Chief Officer as required in charging and general upkeep of HPR transponders and taut wire. (Supporting ETO).
• Ensuring all navigational equipment is functioning correctly.  Preparation of the Bridge for Sea as required by statute and reporting equipment defects.
• Navigation Officer for chart work, passage planning etc. Ensuring all navigational charts and publications are corrected up to date and navigational warnings displayed. Upkeep of Vessel Articles and Discharge Book entries.
• Acts as Helicopter Landing Officer.
• Ensure that the COSHH regulations are implemented correctly and the maintenance of the COSHH Database.

Minimum Marine Qualifications & Experience: 

• Proven experience and results-oriented career and/or B Eng. or Degree equivalents in appropriate engineering subject, unlimited as per STCW Reg.AIII2 and Reg. A. 111/2 respectively;
• Minimum of HND/B.Sc. in any Science / Engineering Related field.
• Candidate must have the relevant mandatories (STCW, TBOSIET, HUET, GMDSS, OSP and All other relevant Documents for positions applied for).
• Valid IWCF/Well cap certification, Supervisory level is an added advantage.
• At least 7-15 years of Experience any the field being applied for.
• Member of a Professional Body is an added advantage
• Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
• Valid International Passport.
• Possess basic critical rig equipment training.
• Demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.

The Junior DP Operator should have:

• OOW – II/1 – STCW95.
• DP Operators certificate issued by the Nautical Institute, or:-
• Comply with the requirements of Guidelines for Design and Operation of Dynamically Positioned Vessels DPVOA (IMCA).
• Comply with the requirements as described in Section 4.3 of the IMCA “Training and Experience of Key DP personnel” document with the exception of the DP simulator certificate which may be waived for an established DPO. 
• An adequate knowledge and experience with the relevant class of vessel in accordance with Section 5 of the IMCA document, “The training and experience of key DP personnel”.
