The Safety Officer\'s primary role is to enforce health, safety, and environmental policies to ensure workplace compliance and security. This involves conducting safety inductions for staff and contractors, monitoring environmental compliance and waste disposal, overseeing PPE issuance and adherence, and performing daily facility inspections.
Responsibilities also include maintaining HSE records, monitoring fire alarm systems and CCTV, and ensuring contractor safety compliance.
Key Responsibility:
Ensure daily safety of the working environment.
Maintain and update the fire and safety checklist regularly, operate and test fire appliances twice weekly, and update the fire truck logbook as needed.
Monitor and ensure proper functioning of fire alarm system accessories, such as smoke detectors, fire brake glass as well as the sprinklers and hydrant lines.
Coordinate with federal/state fire services for fire-related issues and improvements.
Monitor the reserve underground water tank and rooftop sprinkler tanks\' levels daily.
Supervise civil and technical safety-related jobs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Respond to emergency calls, coordinate evacuations, and lead safety directives as necessary.
Requirements
Experience: At least 3 years as a Safety Officer with knowledge of HSE regulations and compliance.
Education: Minimum of HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field; HSE certifications (HSE 1, 2, 3). CSP certification is an advantage.
Skills: Proficiency in risk assessment, crisis management, and first aid; strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
