    Quantity Surveyor

    • We are hiring an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to support the execution of road construction projects in Taraba State.
    • The ideal candidate must possess a strong background in cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration specific to road works.
    • You will play a key role in ensuring that all financial and contractual aspects of the project are well-managed, cost-effective, and compliant with regulatory standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Cost Estimation & Budgeting:Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for road construction projects.Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets in alignment with financial goals.
    • Provide cost-saving recommendations to enhance project value and efficiency.
    • Measurement & Valuation:Conduct accurate measurements and valuations of work completed on-site.Prepare interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.Interpret engineering drawings and ensure precise quantity take-offs.
    • Tendering & Procurement:Prepare tender documents including Bills of Quantities (BOQ), BEME, and contracts.Evaluate tenders and negotiate pricing with contractors and vendors.Manage procurement timelines to align with project milestones.Contract Administration:Assess and process claims and variations in line with contract terms.Ensure all works adhere to contractual obligations and project specifications.Cost Control & Reporting:Track and report on project expenditures and cost performance.Forecast future costs and resource requirements.Implement corrective actions in cases of budget deviations.
    • Collaboration & Communication:Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and site supervisors.Attend site meetings to resolve cost-related issues and ensure progress.Provide expert advice on contractual and cost matters.
    • Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with local and international construction standards.Stay up to date with industry trends, practices, and regulatory changes.

    Key Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.Professional certification (e.g., RICS, NIQS, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience, particularly in road construction projects.Proficient in MS Office Suite and industry-relevant cost management software.
    • Strong knowledge of road construction methods, materials, and cost dynamics.Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.Sound knowledge of procurement practices and contract laws.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
