    Project Manager, Commercialization of Biofortified Crops

    The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is searching for an experienced project manager to oversee and implement the GAIN and HarvestPlus Commercialization of Biofortified Crops initiative in Abuja, Nigeria. This position will be on a one year fixed-term contract based, subject to availability of funding.

    The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Supply Chains, the Project Manager will coordinate the implementation of activities and partnerships at country level, to fulfil the vision of bringing biofortified products to scale under the partnership of GAIN and HarvestPlus. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, Supply Chains and other members of the Programme Services Team, the Manager will help to draw in technical skills and build the program in line with relevant performance indicators.

    Specific Responsibilities include;

    • Leading the implementation of commercialization of biofortified crops in Nigeria to ensure impact, scale and sustainability in a strategically selected geography and for a defined basked of biofortified crops
    • Identifying new partners for GAIN and HarvestPlus to collaborate with to increase impact
    • Providing technical oversight to the implementation of activities that bring biofortified crops to scale through commercialization activities
    • Setting operational plans and determine future strategic priorities based on research and analysis
    • Working closely with GAIN’s Knowledge Leadership and HarvestPlus’ MEL groups to ensure monitoring, evaluation and learning takes place within the commercialization activities
    • Contributing towards the development of new business opportunities for GAIN and HarvestPlus to generate additional funding for the commercialization of biofortified crops in Nigeria

    About You

    You must have demonstrable professional experience directly, or indirectly, related to marketing foods and supply chains and international development, including implementation of market-based agricultural or nutrition programs and projects. Additionally, they will be able to evidence project management ability along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence stakeholders across both the public and private sectors (food enterprises, development agencies, governments).

    In addition, you should possess a university level degree in one of the following fields: supply chain management, business and marketing, food technology, development studies, economics, agricultural development, or other relevant technical field.

    About our Offer

    The starting salary on offer for this role is from NGN 8,923,728 – NGN 10,183,104 per annum, depending on experience.

    GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
