KNCV Nigeria, in consolidating the achievements and successes of funding cycles in the TB LON 1&2 project, proposes to scale and sustain current efforts to achieve quality TB services and full treatment coverage aligned with the National TB and Leprosy Control Program (NTBLCP) and UNHLM targets. The TB LON 1&2 Project funded by the United States Government (USG) currently supports TB control activities in the 14 targeted states, namely, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Rivers, Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Anambra, Delta, and Imo, to increase the number of TB cases detected, treated, and notified.
Expected Results for the TB LON 1&2 Project:
- Increased diagnosis of individuals of all ages and sex with all forms of TB
- Optimal treatment outcome for all individuals with TB started on treatment
- TB disease transmission and progression reduced
- Accelerated TB research and innovations with improved impact on program implementation
- Strengthened systems and structures that accelerate progress to TB control and support pandemic preparedness
Purpose of the Job
The Project Director of TB LON Regions 1 & 2 will work with and coordinate the Senior Program Manager/Cluster Leads in the Nasarawa, Kano, Akwa Ibom, & Anambra Clusters to deliver key project objectives. He/she will ensure the implementation of TB LON Regions 1 & 2 project in the 14 states, including monitoring the progress of planned activities.
Hierarchically, The Project Director reports to the Chief of Party TB LON 1&2
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead efforts in work plan development and project implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation.
- Work with central office senior technical advisors to facilitate efficient program management in the states, including planning, design, review, and progress monitoring.
- With the assistance of country office staff, support rigorous monitoring and a strong evaluation system to track the progress of all strategies, interventions, and activities and ensure that they meet administrative, financial, and programmatic goals. Provide technical support and oversight to senior program managers and officers on implementing key intervention areas of TB LON Regions 1 & 2 activities.
- Manage communications with all other stakeholders, including the development partners, civil society, and other relevant groups.
- Develop performance plans and evaluations of regional and state-level staff, as well as ensure individual employee performance objectives and ratings among lower-level staff/groups are standard.
- Develop monthly and quarterly reports on the implementation of the TB LON project across the 14 implementing states.
- Support adherence to regulations in line with USG finance policy and award conditions for the TB LON Regions 1 & 2 project.
- Perform other additional duties assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of an MBBS with an MPH degree or master’s degree in other relevant public health disciplines.
- At least 10 years’ experience working with TB & HIV programs at various levels.
- Experience with USG or UN projects or any development partner is an advantage.
- Strong coordination, planning, and supervisory skills.
- Competent with operational plan development, implementation, and evaluation of results.
- Comfortable planning and delivering multiple activities under pressure to strict deadlines with high levels of precision.
- Self-motivated with a strong ability to identify and develop relevant areas of work.
- Able to communicate complex issues in a concise, accessible, and engaging manner.
