    Project Coordinator

    • POSITION CODE: LTS/CBM/KOG/25/PC
    • LOCATION: Lokoja field office, Kogi State.
    • EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time
    • DURATION: 1 year subject to renewal

    Project Scope:

    This project will directly target persons with disabilities, their family members and other community structures, the state and local government ministries, departments and agencies, Civil Society Organizations including Organization of People with Disabilities (OPDs), Women and girls, Community Health Workers and community members in Kogi state. The project is equally a deliberate focus on strengthening the capacity of OPDS, CSOs, FBOs , government stakeholders and media platforms to understand and implement disability law in Kogi State using a structured multi-sectorial and Community Based Inclusive Development approach to reinforce awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities.

    General Position Summary

    Programme Coordinator:

    • Provides oversight of the project, including technical guidance
    • Supports engagement including advocacy efforts with stakeholders at the state level
    • Coordinates project team and provide mentoring and coaching for project team

    Roles and Key responsibilities

    In Collaboration with LETSAI Staff Field Team and Other Stakeholders of CBID/ DID Specialists, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following;

    Support in Program Design, Development and Implementation:

    • Leads the preparation of ongoing situation reports, periodic updates and analyses, by compiling and analyzing data, and related information with a specific focus on CBID/DID and prepare written inputs accordingly to
    • inform effective program planning, development and management.
    • Undertakes field visits to project areas, to assess local conditions and monitor progress. Establishes contact with community groups and partners to keep abreast of emergency situation. Collect information, identify problems and constraints in order to ensure effective project delivery.
    • Establish effective leadership for the CBID/DID sub-working groups, map existing activities and undertake protection gap analysis, support the elaboration of Standard Operation Procedures and standardized tools, promote data collection and management, build capacity of LETSAI staff.
    • To provide timely feedback on the ongoing activities and propose amendments as needed and way forward/mitigation measures to challenges faced;
    • To contribute to proposal development (narrative and budget) by providing relevant inputs on CBID/ DID related aspects in close coordination with the technical unit and project management team as well as engaging in resource mobilization efforts to support joint programming;
    • To contribute to the development of the CBID/DID program strategic direction for responding to the needs of women, girls, boys and men;
    • To provide technical support to revise and develop contextualized training and IEC materials and coordinate/facilitate the use of these materials during training and community awareness sessions on CBID/DID
    • To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop Plan programs;

    Monitoring, Implementation and Reporting:

    • To work closely with LETSAI MEL Unit to ensure that implementation and monitoring of activities are
    • implemented in a coordinated and phased manner, in accordance with agreed guide lines, best practices and policy;
    • To ensure that ethical, confidential and sound data collection and information management systems are in place for appropriate CBID/DID analysis, planning, evaluation and advocacy
    • To lead the development and facilitation of trainings/workshops as well as Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and reporting systems and approaches focusing on CBID/DID related topics;
    • As required, to provide technical support through developing sessions to support the implementation of the project’s activities including adaptation and upgrading of CBID /DID evidence-based tools and systems;
    • To lead and support the development of M&E Framework and monitoring & evaluation plan for CBID / DID related activities and indicators and ensure adherence to the plans and systems;
    • To develop and roll out training plans and facilitate trainings for the community CBID / DID service providers/
    • Staff on monitoring, referring and reporting cases based on the assessed needs in collaboration with the
    • Advocacy and Data management units;
    • To plan and undertake regular monitoring visits and meetings with relevant stakeholders in the targeted areas
    • in assessing the protection trends, patterns and advise on the prevention and response strategies;
    • To support the analysis and reporting on programme and project progress and trends in terms of achieving
    • results, using existing monitoring and evaluation tools and introducing new mechanisms and systems; identify
    • constraints and resource deficiencies, and recommend corrective action;
    • To consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of field teams; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to Relevant units as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for Plan programs;
    • To coordinate and support timely delivery of quality project and financial reporting and ensures adequacy with finance and activities;
    • To lead the development and implementation of regular, participatory assessments/feedback and complaint surveys and mechanism with and for affected communities in accordance to LETSAI regulations, Core
    • Humanitarian Standards as well ensuring the alignment with already established systems and policies available;
    • To provide inputs and consolidate weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports on the protection related activities, training and meetings and contribute high-quality LETSAI and donor reports on activities, indicators and achievements, as well as best practices and lessons learned;
    • To maintain effective and efficient oversight, quality control and reporting systems and processes that ensure regular field monitoring and modifications as required.

    Coordination and Communication:

    • To attend regular calls, meetings, etc. as required by LETSAI;
    • To coordinate with the Communication and Advocacy officer to ensure that all media related activities are in line with the Do No Harm approach and inter-agency guidelines and to support resource mobilization efforts by contributing to proposal preparation and development of communication and advocacy materials and related engagements;
    • Promote knowledge management including through drafting/finalizing inputs into LETSAI Protection programme documents and reports, including donor reports, sharing good practices, lessons learned, and knowledge/information exchange with all partners on response, and harnessing knowledge institutions resources and partnerships as appropriate.
    • Build and maintain for overall project tasks on planning, budgeting, and staffing requirements on achievement by Ensuring project goals and Outputs achieved and met
    • To share relevant information with the teams in accordance with confidentiality regulations and policies; establishing and supporting the development and revision of the proper and sound documentation and data filing system;
    • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including donors (if required), government actors, UN agencies, international and local NGOs, and other relevant actors.

    Human Resources – Staff supervision and Development

    • To maintain open and professional relations with all the team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions and different task
    • assigned to them;
    • To lead and support the orientation, on-going development/ refresher training and capacity building of CBID /DID Staff when required.
    • To ensure refreshers and learning sessions are carried out as needed;
    • Ensure timely completion and submission of regular program and staff reporting and annual performancereviews, as appropriate

    Technical qualification and Expertise Requirements

    • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Public/Community Health, Human Rights or another related field;
    • Minimum of 5 years (CBID / DID) of progressively responsible experience
    • Demonstrate experience in capacity building trainings
    • Previous experience in emergency preparedness and response as well as prior trainings in CBID/DID issues and their application in disability inclusion, humanitarian, conflict, recovery and development settings;
    • Prior experience in counselling and psychosocial support will be an asset;
    • Experience in developing methods, tools and programs/interventions in collaboration with government agencies, civil society, and private organizations/institutions.
    • Experience of conducting assessments in emergency contexts.
    • Experience of training on relevant technical areas with a variety of audiences.
    • Experience of multiple managing grants and donor’ reporting requirements
    • Excellent interpersonal qualities and the ability to work with people from a range of backgrounds, promote teamwork, flexible and able to handle pressure and conflict well in a calm and constructive manner;
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision from Executive Director and under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines and communicate clearly and effectively at all levels;
    • Excellent negotiation, representation, and facilitation skills and the ability to work comfortably in a very sensitive environment;
    • Strong organizational and work prioritization skills and attention to detail;
    • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work cooperatively.
    • Proven facilitation skills and demonstrated experience in leading joint group efforts;
