    Project Coordinator

    Job purpose

    Under the supervision of and in regular consultation with the Elim Programme Manager, implements Elim’s “Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks through local CSOs’ strengthening”. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership towards the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks project.

    Qualification

    • A minimum of B.Sc. or HND degree in development studies, social works, sociology, peace and conflict resolution, or relevant field
    • Three (3) years’ working experience (in flood, epidemic and conflict contexts would be an added advantage) in inclusive development, community based Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks peace building and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and emergency preparedness projects in design, implementation, including data collection and analysis. Experience in Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks response would be good.
    • Demonstrated experience in working with various stakeholders including government agencies
    • A very good experience in writing quality reports for donor agencies

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support the overall implementation of Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks. strategy and activities in the target LGAs in collaboration with the Benue State Government, Local Government authorities, Disabled People’s Organizations, NGO / civil society organizations and Inter Agency Group.
    • Strengthen community Preparedness and Coordination in the target LGAs through Emergency Management Agency structures in the state and LGAs.
    • Coordinate with State and Local government officials to facilitate leveraging of government action for implementing Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks informed development actions.
    • Support communities to conduct community resource mapping and develop community preparedness and response plan in the target LGAs.
    • Strengthen community structures in the target LGAs to promote climate change and disability inclusion and build community resilience to respond to disasters.
    • The incumbent would contribute to testing the feasibility of developing a culturally-accepted Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks Programme strategy.
    • Promote and facilitate practical integration of Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks including climate change adaptation and peace building response into existing humanitarian/emergency response programme.
    • Receive and host CBM and key partners visiting the project, including organizing appointments to project stakeholders based on itinerary of the visitors.
    • Oversee the capacity development of project staff in Enabling Resilience to Climate Change Related Risks and provide ongoing support towards the delivery of the project.
    • Responsible for timely submission of good quality donor reports (narrative and financial) that meet CBM and donor requirements.
    • Perform any other duty as requested by supervisor.

    Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local language is an asset.

    • Practical experience in financial reporting and prudence in handling project finances.
    • Climate Change knowledge including related mechanisms for CCA an asset
    • Exposure to training related to issues such as climate change, disability mainstreaming, peace building in disaster/conflict prone areas.
