    Program Officer

    Reports to: Program Coordinator

    Contract length: 3 years

    Remuneration: Negotiable and competitive within the sector.

    Main Role:

    Under the guidance of the Program Coordinator and other partner organizations, the Program Officer will have the following specific responsibilities and will provide the following deliverables:

    Project Implementation and Coordination;

    • Plan, execute, and monitor project activities in alignment with the project’s goals and timelines.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
    • Ensure activities promote the participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes.

    Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence inclusive development policies.
    • Build and maintain partnerships with disability organizations, government representatives, and other key stakeholders.
    • Organize workshops, seminars, and public awareness campaigns to promote disability rights.

    Capacity Building

    • Provide training and support to stakeholders on disability inclusion and rights-based approaches.
    • Develop tools, guidelines, and resources to enhance knowledge and understanding of disability inclusion.

    Research and Policy Development

    • Conduct research on best practices and policy gaps related to disability rights and inclusive development.
    • Contribute to the development of policy briefs and advocacy materials.

    Educational qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree statistics, Political Science, Gender and Development, or related field with focus on monitoring and evaluation.

    Experience:

    • At least 5 - 7 years of experience in project planning and implementation in development in national/international NGOs/EU bodies/Government.
    • Prior working experience within national and or international organizations and experience of working with donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
    • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups.
    • Experience with donor-funded projects and compliance requirements.

    Core skills

    • Extensive experience in developing monitoring plans and/or management information systems
    • Fluency in written and spoken English and Benue local languages and dialects is required.
    • Excellent interpersonal, multicultural and team-building skills.
    • Advance knowledge of project management

    Work Environment:

    Traditional Office hours of 9 am – 5 pm on weekdays
