    Program Manager, Environment & Climate Change

    Job Purpose

    • The Program Manager, Environment &Climate Change, will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental and climate change programs aimed at promoting sustainability, resilience, and mitigation efforts.
    • She/he will collaborate with internal teams, government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to address environmental challenges and advance climate action initiatives.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement environmental and climate change programs and projects aligned with the organization's mission, goals, and strategic objectives.
    • Conduct assessments and analyses to identify key environmental issues, vulnerabilities, and adaptation/mitigation needs at the local, regional, and national levels.
    • Design and oversee the implementation of strategies, interventions, and policies to address environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, pollution, and other environmental challenges.
    • Coordinate with government agencies, civil society organizations, research institutions, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy reforms and initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
    • Facilitate community engagement and participation in environmental conservation, natural resource management, and climate adaptation/mitigation efforts.
    • Provide technical expertise and capacity-building support to local communities, government officials, and civil society organizations on climate-smart practices, sustainable development, and green technologies.
    • Monitor and evaluate program activities and outcomes, and document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future program design and implementation.
    • Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and events related to environment and climate change, and contribute to advocacy and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends, research findings, and best practices in environmental conservation and climate action, and incorporate new knowledge into program strategies and approaches.
    • Supervise and mentor program staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality program delivery.

    Job Qualifications

    • A Degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, or related field.
    • Minimum of 8 years experience in environmental conservation, climate change adaptation/mitigation, or related fields, preferably in the NGO sector.
    • Strong understanding of environmental issues, climate change impacts, and sustainable development principles.
    • Proven experience in project management, research, policy advocacy, and program development inEnvironment & Climate Change.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in relevant computer software applications, including Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis software.
