    Production Assistant Manager

    Position Summary

    • The Production Assistant Manager supports the overall management of daily production operations in the packaging manufacturing facility.
    • This role ensures smooth workflow, adherence to quality standards, cost efficiency, and timely delivery of corrugated and paper packaging products.
    • Working closely with the production manager, the assistant manager will supervise production staff, coordinate schedules, monitor machinery performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the plant floor.

    Key Responsibilities
    Production Management:

    • Assist in planning, organizing, and overseeing day-to-day production activities to meet production targets and delivery schedules.
    • Ensure corrugated and paper packaging is manufactured in line with specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
    • Monitor machine operations (corrugators, printers, die cutters, gluers, etc.) to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
    • Track production KPIs such as output, scrap rate, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

    Team Supervision:

    • Supervise, train, and motivate production operators, technicians, and shift leaders.
    • Support workforce scheduling, shift planning, and overtime management to meet production demands.
    • Enforce discipline, safety practices, and adherence to SOPs on the shop floor.

    Process & Efficiency Improvement:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, lower costs, and improve productivity.
    • Support the implementation of lean manufacturing and 5S practices across the plant.
    • Assist with troubleshooting production issues and coordinating timely repairs with the maintenance team.

    Quality & Compliance:

    • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet customer and regulatory standards.
    • Monitor adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards, and safety regulations.
    • Participate in root cause analysis for nonconformances and support corrective actions.

    Reporting & Coordination:

    • Prepare and maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
    • Support the Production Manager in budgeting, cost analysis, and resource allocation.
    • Act as the liaison between production staff and management, ensuring smooth communication

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
    • With 3 – 5 years experience in production supervision/management in corrugated, paperboard, or packaging manufacturing.
    • Strong technical knowledge of corrugating machines, converting equipment, and printing/finishing lines.
    • Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and maintain high morale among production staff.
    • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and other efficiency tools.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Achievement of daily/weekly/monthly production targets.
    • Machine uptime and reduced downtime percentages.
    • Scrap/rework rates and cost savings achieved.
    • On-time delivery performance.
    • Employee productivity and compliance with SOPs.
    • Contribution to safety and zero-incident records
    • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP/MRP production systems.
