This role is responsible for managing purchasing activities and establishing supplier contracts. It involves sourcing high-quality, cost-effective supplies, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, thorough, and possess strong knowledge of supply chain management processes, contributing to efficient production operations and cost optimization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Act as the primary liaison between internal departments and customers, coordinating procurement, delivery, and disbursement procedures for materials and raw stock.
Ensure the timely availability of materials by continuously monitoring inventory levels and implementing effective stock management practices.
Collaborate with existing suppliers and evaluate potential new suppliers to secure the best value, quality, and delivery timelines, while nurturing strong supplier relationships.
Create and maintain a comprehensive supplier database, including a preferred supplier list and contractor details with key contractual information.
Perform additional tasks assigned by the Production & Supply Chain Manager to achieve departmental goals.
Optimize storage efficiency by ensuring materials are stored for easy identification and accessibility.
Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with organizational objectives and enhance operational efficiency.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and reports, leveraging tools for tracking activities and expenditures.
Oversee project-specific procurements, ensuring compliance with budgets and cost-effectiveness.
Competencies and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certifications in any of the following will be an advantage: The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), Nigerian Institute of Purchasing and Supply (NIPS), Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISCM), Six Sigma, or other relevant procurement and supply chain certifications.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain operations.
Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policies, and market trends. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for managing complexities and risks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software applications for reporting.
Strong negotiation skills to secure the best purchasing outcomes.
