    Procurement Officer

    Job Summary

    • This role is responsible for the efficient administration of cost-effective and timely purchase and procurement of consumables, equipment and other items required by the organisation and for communicating effectively with the suppliers, vendors, contractors and all other stakeholders in the procurement process.

    The key result areas of this role are:

    • Facilitate the purchase of equipment for the organisation, contact suppliers, and conduct market (price) research and quotations.
    • Undertake the regular ordering of medical and non-medical consumables ensuring stock available meets demand.
    • Order and procure medical and non-medical items as directed.
    • In all purchasing activities create specifications, obtain quotes, place purchase orders, expedite delivery and solve problems, keep records and track all costs.
    • Solve purchasing issues and problems.
    • Maintain a database of suppliers and contractors for the hospital.
    • Assist and advise staff and management with enquiries regarding purchasing issues, procedures, needs and costs.
    • Develop a network of reliable suppliers, contractors and vendors and maintain a cordial and beneficial relationship with them on behalf of the organisation.
    • Perform the role of intermediary between requisition owner and supplier by liaising with the suppliers and other hospital departments to ensure effective and correct action on order requests.

    The Person

    • A Bachelor's (B.Sc.) Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management or any relevant Business Degree is required for this role.
    • 1 to 3 yearsof relevant work experience preferably in the Health or FMCG sector.
    • A minimum level of Student membership in relevant professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (CIPSM) Nigeria is required for this role.
    • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package and other procurement software.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication (oral and written), and business presentation skills.
