Ports Operations Coordinator at MacTay Consulting

Job Purpose

• The Ports Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring all port-related activities to ensure the timely clearance, movement, and delivery of cargo. 
• The role serves as the link between the Company, port authorities, shipping lines, terminal operators, customs officials, transporters, and clients to ensure smooth operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

Port Operations Coordination:

• Coordinate cargo clearance activities at seaports, terminals, and bonded warehouses.
• Monitor the movement of consignments from arrival through final delivery.
• Liaise with shipping companies, terminal operators, customs officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Track vessel arrivals, cargo discharge schedules, and cargo release processes.
• Ensure all port activities are completed within agreed timelines.

Documentation Management:

• Verify shipping and clearance documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Coordinate the processing of Form M, PAAR, Bills of Lading, Delivery Orders, and other clearance documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions and cargo movements.
• Ensure proper filing and retrieval of operational documents.

Client Service:

• Provide regular updates to clients regarding shipment status.
• Respond promptly to client inquiries and operational concerns.
• Escalate delays, risks, or issues that may affect service delivery.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:

• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, port procedures, and applicable government requirements.
• Monitor regulatory changes that may impact cargo clearance operations.
• Support internal compliance and audit activities.

Transport and Delivery Coordination:

• Coordinate the dispatch of trucks and other transportation resources.
• Monitor cargo delivery schedules and resolve transportation challenges.
• Ensure proof of delivery and related documentation are properly captured.

Reporting:

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• Track cargo clearance timelines and operational performance indicators.
• Report operational bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in clearing and forwarding, freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics operations.
• Sound knowledge of Nigerian port operations and customs procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Proximity to Ibeju Lekki
• Must be able to drive.
