Pigging Specialist at Scruples Resources

The Pigging Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting pipeline pigging activities, including the preparation, deployment, monitoring, retrieval, and inspection of pipeline pigs. The role supports pipeline cleaning, inspection, product displacement, integrity management, and maintenance activities while ensuring that operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate pigging activities in accordance with approved work procedures and project requirements.
• Review pipeline information, drawings, pigging procedures, and operational requirements before commencing activities.
• Select and recommend appropriate types of pigs based on pipeline characteristics and the intended activity.
• Support preparation and inspection of pigs and associated pigging equipment before deployment.
• Coordinate pig launching and receiving activities.
• Monitor pigging operations and provide technical support during deployment, tracking, and retrieval.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, inspection, engineering, and other project personnel during pigging activities.
• Support pipeline cleaning, gauging, dewatering, displacement, batching, and other applicable pigging operations.
• Assist with troubleshooting pigging-related operational problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Verify that pig traps, valves, fittings, temporary equipment, and associated systems are properly prepared before operations.
• Ensure appropriate safety controls and permits are in place before pigging activities commence.
• Monitor operating conditions and communicate abnormal conditions or potential risks to the responsible project personnel.
• Maintain records of pigging activities, pig identification, deployment and retrieval information, operational observations, and relevant measurements.
• Support inspection and documentation of retrieved pigs and pipeline debris or deposits.
• Participate in pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and post-job reviews.
• Assist with preparation of pigging reports and technical documentation.
• Support site surveys and field verification related to pigging activities.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and other personnel involved in pigging operations.
• Ensure all pigging activities are carried out in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, and client requirements.

Required Qualifications

• HND, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Pipeline Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant training or certification in pipeline pigging, pipeline operations, or pipeline integrity is an advantage.
• Demonstrable experience in pipeline pigging operations and related activities.
• Good understanding of pipeline systems, pig traps, valves, fittings, and associated equipment.
• Ability to interpret pipeline drawings, P&IDs, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of pipeline cleaning, gauging, displacement, batching, dewatering, and inspection activities.
• Good understanding of safe work practices associated with pipeline and pigging operations.
