    Physics Teacher

    Job Summary

    • The Physics Teacher will be responsible for fostering a deep understanding of physical laws, mathematical principles, and scientific inquiries.
    • The ideal candidate will seamlessly bridge abstract concepts (like mechanics, electromagnetism, and quantum physics) with real-world applications and hands-on laboratory experiments, preparing students thoroughly for internal assessments and external examinations (such as WAEC, NECO, or Cambridge IGCSE).

    Responsibilities

    • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, mathematically sound lessons in physics according to the prescribed curriculum guidelines.
    • Laboratory Supervision: Design and conduct practical laboratory sessions. Teach students how to properly use apparatus, take accurate measurements, minimize experimental errors, and write comprehensive lab reports.
    • Exam Preparation: Prepare senior students intensively for both the theoretical problem-solving and practical components of external regional or international examinations.
    • Assessment & Evaluation: Formulate rigorous test and exam questions, grade assignments and lab reports promptly, and provide actionable feedback to support student growth.
    • Equipment Maintenance: Manage the physics laboratory inventory. Ensure all equipment (such as circuit boards, optical benches, and weights) is properly calibrated, safely stored, and maintained.
    • Administrative Duties: Keep precise records of student attendance, performance, and lesson plans, and participate actively in departmental and whole-school staff meetings.

    Key Skills:

    • Subject Expertise: Deep understanding of core physics domains, including mechanics, waves, optics, electricity, magnetism, and thermal physics.
    • Mathematical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly explain derivations, calculus-based or algebraic formulas, and complex problem-solving steps.
    • Practical Instructional Clarity: Skill in translating abstract physics theories into tangible visual demonstrations or experiments.
    • Safety & Precision: Commitment to precise data collection and safe laboratory practices.
    • Classroom Management: Ability to maintain an orderly, intellectually stimulating environment that encourages critical thinking and active participation.

     Education & Experience Requirements

    EducationalResources

    • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) in Physics, or a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics/Engineering plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
    • Professional Certification: Registration with a relevant national teaching council or regulatory body (such as TRCN) is highly preferred.
    • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of physics teaching experience at the secondary school level, with a documented history of helping students achieve excellent results in terminal external examinations.

    Other Requirements:

    • Strong digital literacy, including experience using digital data loggers, interactive smartboards, and learning management systems (LMS).
    • High level of professional ethics, integrity, and a passion for STEM education.
    • Willingness to collaborate with the Science Department, laboratory staff, parents, and school administration.

    Salary

    • N150,000 per month.

    Remuneration & Benefits:

    • Salary: Competitive monthly gross salary, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and institutional scale.
