The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmaceutical services. The role involves dispensing medications under supervision, managing inventory, processing prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Receive and process prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Prepare, label, package, and dispense medications accurately.
Assist pharmacists with prescription verification and medication preparation.
Maintain accurate patient and prescription records.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock ordering, receiving, and storage.
Conduct routine stock counts and monitor product expiry dates.
Ensure proper storage of medications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pharmacy.
Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients and clients.
Escalate medication-related concerns or discrepancies to the supervising pharmacist.
Support the implementation of pharmacy policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in continuous learning and professional development activities.
Requirements
Diploma or recognised qualification in Pharmacy Technician studies with 1–3 years of experience in a hospital, community, or retail pharmacy.
Valid registration or licence with the relevant regulatory authority (PCN).
Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical products and dispensing procedures.
Good understanding of inventory management principles.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with pharmacy management software is an advantage.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
