    Pharmaceutical - Project Lead

    Reports To: Managing Partner

    About The Role

    • We are looking for a driven and experienced Project Manager, Pharmaceutical Lead to oversee our pharmaceutical projects from concept through commercialization.
    • The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage project timelines and budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive innovation across pharmaceutical initiatives.
    • In addition to project delivery, the ideal candidate will play a strategic role in identifying and securing funding opportunities for pharmaceutical projects.
    • This includes supporting fundraising initiatives, grant applications, investor engagement, and the development of commercially viable project proposals that attract development finance institutions, impact investors, donor organizations, and strategic partners.
    • This role requires an individual who combines strong pharmaceutical expertise with commercial thinking, stakeholder management, and project financing capabilities.

    Key Responsibilities
    Project Management:

    • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of pharmaceutical projects across the full product lifecycle.
    • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risk registers, and implementation frameworks.
    • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
    • Monitor project performance, milestones, deliverables, and budgets.
    • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget, and agreed timelines.

    Pharmaceutical & Regulatory Leadership:

    • Ensure compliance with GMP, GCP, GLP, WHO guidelines, NAFDAC requirements, and other applicable regulatory standards.
    • Support pharmaceutical product development, technology transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and commercialization initiatives.
    • Coordinate laboratory activities, pilot production, validation, and quality assurance processes.
    • Stay updated on pharmaceutical industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.

    Fundraising & Project Financing:

    • Identify and pursue grant opportunities, donor funding, development finance, and strategic investment opportunities for pharmaceutical projects.
    • Develop compelling funding proposals, concept notes, business cases, and investment memoranda.
    • Support fundraising campaigns targeted at development partners, international organizations, foundations, and impact investors.
    • Participate in investor meetings, donor engagements, and partnership discussions.
    • Collaborate with finance and business development teams to structure commercially viable pharmaceutical projects.
    • Support financial modelling and project bankability assessments where required.
    • Build and maintain relationships with funding organizations, development agencies, pharmaceutical investors, and strategic partners.

    Stakeholder & Partnership Management:

    • Collaborate with internal departments, regulatory agencies, consultants, manufacturers, research institutions, and external partners.
    • Represent the organization at pharmaceutical conferences, stakeholder meetings, and industry events.
    • Develop strategic partnerships that support project implementation and commercialization.

    Reporting & Performance Management:

    • Prepare project reports, executive presentations, funding reports, and performance dashboards.
    • Provide regular project updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
    • Monitor project KPIs and ensure continuous improvement across pharmaceutical initiatives.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Project Management, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of 7 years' experience in pharmaceutical project management with demonstrated leadership experience.
    • Proven experience managing pharmaceutical manufacturing, product development, commercialization, or healthcare projects.
    • Experience supporting grant applications, fundraising initiatives, project financing, or donor-funded programmes is highly desirable.
    • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, GMP, NAFDAC requirements, WHO standards, and quality systems.
    • Hands-on laboratory or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
    • Experience preparing technical proposals, funding applications, or investment documentation.
    • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.

    Professional Certifications

    • PMP (Project Management Professional)
    • PRINCE2
    • Lean Six Sigma
    • Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or GMP Certification
    • Grant Management Certification
    • Fundraising or Proposal Development Certification
    • MBA (Added Advantage)

    • Skilled at building strategic partnerships across government, development agencies, and private-sector organizations.
    • Highly organized with excellent leadership and project coordination skills.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
    • Results-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Passionate about innovation, healthcare, and sustainable pharmaceutical development
