The Shift Manager is responsible for managing all terminal operations during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of activities.
This role is pivotal in delivering operational excellence and outstanding customer service while optimizing resources and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and direct the execution team across vessel, yard, and gate operations to achieve productivity and efficiency targets.
Monitor and analyze operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
Ensure seamless coordination between operations and maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
Manage shift costs, including overtime and general expenditures, and contribute to financial reviews.
Guarantee reliable service to customers by ensuring vessels sail on schedule and operational standards are met.
Drive compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, conducting regular safety briefings and investigations.
Promote consistent application of company policies and fair treatment across the team.
Provide coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities for team members.
Embed LEAN principles and TWI (Training Within Industry) in daily operations to enhance efficiency.
Represent the terminal in meetings with customers, government authorities, and high-level visitors when required.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in container terminal operations is highly desirable.
Knowledge of HSSE standards and compliance requirements.
