    Job Responsibilities

    General Responsibilities:

    • Carry out engine room watchkeeping duties, including routine cleaning, repairs, and maintenance as required.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Be fully familiar with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and work procedures applicable to assigned tasks.
    • Perform general maintenance and cleaning tasks in accordance with company work procedures and quality standards.
    • Execute assigned tasks safely, reporting hazardous conditions immediately to the OIM or supervisor.
    • Be familiar with Permit to Work (PTW) system and equipment isolation procedures.
    • Ensure work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work, and work aloft is conducted only with proper PTW authorization.
    • Monitor and maintain pollution control measures, identifying and stopping (if safe) unplanned discharges of water, oil, gas, or chemicals, and reporting incidents promptly.
    • Use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when dealing with discharges or leaks, following company procedures.
    • Dispose of used or broken materials in accordance with established procedures.
    • Enforce environmental protection and pollution control procedures with subordinates and subcontractors as outlined in the Vessel Management System (VMS).

    Emergency Response

    • Demonstrate competence during emergency drills and training exercises.
    • Support emergency response roles as assigned, following the station bill and safety protocols.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Required to have certifications to show their competence in the field.Certification as part of an engine watch (STCW Reg. A-II/4 or equivalent). Use Standard MS, diagnostic software and equipment as required.
    • Proven experience and/or recognized qualification in marine engine room operations.
    • Good knowledge of Mechanical Isolation Standards, Knowledge of Permit to Work, and Risk Assessment procedures is an advantage.
    • Experience with hydrocarbon processing systems and utilities.
    • Knowledge of safety and environmental management systems.

    • Personal: Careful, conscientious, and safety-conscious.
    • Leadership: Ability to follow instructions and enforce safety procedures.
    • Technical: Good communication skills; proficient in using diagnostic software and equipment as required.
