Oil & Gas Process / Operations Manager

The Process/Operations Manager will be responsible for directing, optimizing, and securing the daily operations of the company’s oil and gas production and processing facilities. The role requires deep expertise in hydrocarbon processing, asset integrity, facility commissioning, and international safety standards (such as API, ASME, and ISO). The candidate must be well-versed in local and international regulatory frameworks, environmental compliance, and cost-efficient production strategies.

This position is heavily technical and operations-focused: ensuring that oil and gas assets operate at peak throughput, remain fully compliant, prevent unscheduled downtime, and maximize profitability safely.

    Role Responsibilities

    Production Optimization & Facility Operations

    •  Manage end-to-end processing and production operations (onshore, offshore, or midstream facilities).
    •  Oversee the performance of processing units, separation systems, gas compression, and stabilization plants to achieve production targets.
    •  Lead the troubleshooting of complex process upsets, optimize chemical injection regimes, and implement debottlenecking strategies to maximize hydrocarbon throughput.

Asset Integrity, Maintenance & Engineering Oversight

    •  Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all static and rotating equipment.
    •  Oversee process safety management (PSM) initiatives, including leading or participating in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) and HAZID studies.
    •  Collaborate with engineering teams on facility modifications, upgrades, and brownfield or greenfield project integration.

    Regulatory Compliance & HSE Leadership

    •  Ensure all processing activities strictly comply with regional petroleum regulations, local content laws, and international environmental standards.
    •  Drive a relentless \"Zero Harm\" safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to Permit to Work (PTW) systems, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and emergency response protocols.
    •  Liaise with external environmental and energy regulators for facility audits, emission tracking, and licensing renewals.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Interface

    •  Build and maintain strategic relationships with joint-venture partners, host communities, and regulatory authorities to ensure uninterrupted operations.
    •  Manage relationships with major oilfield service providers, specialized technical vendors, and contractors.
    •  Provide high-level operational updates and technical briefs to senior executives and external technical committees.

    Financial Management, Budgeting & Reporting

    •  Develop and manage the annual Operational Expenditure (OPEX) and Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) budgets for the facilities.
    •  Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, chemical consumption, and lifting costs per barrel.
    •  Prepare regular technical, operational, and financial progress reports for executive management.

    Experience / Qualification

    •  Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    •  Master’s degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is an advantage.
    •  Professional certification/registration with recognized engineering bodies (e.g., COREN, NSE, IChemE, or SPE).
    •  10+ years’ proven experience in upstream or midstream oil and gas operations, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
    •  Deep knowledge of gas processing, crude oil separation, fiscal metering, and process automation (SCADA/DCS systems).
