Network & Applications Specialist at Grandville Medical & Laser

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Network & Applications Specialist to join our Information Technology team. This role is responsible for managing the organization\'s network infrastructure, supporting web-based applications, maintaining internal systems, and providing advanced technical support. The successful candidate will also serve as a technical resource for the IT Support Officer by resolving complex issues and contributing to the continuous improvement of the organization\'s IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration

• Manage, monitor, and maintain the organization\'s LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.
• Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and network security appliances.
• Monitor network performance and implement improvements to maximize uptime and reliability.
• Ensure network security through access controls, endpoint protection, and regular vulnerability assessments.
• Maintain documentation of network architecture, configurations, and disaster recovery procedures.

Applications & Web Management

• Manage and maintain the organization\'s website, ensuring it remains functional, secure, and up to date.
• Develop, customize, and support internal web-based applications and digital tools.
• Provide technical support for business applications, databases, and cloud-based solutions.
• Work with departments to identify opportunities for process automation and digital transformation.
• Coordinate software upgrades, integrations, and application deployments.

Technical Support

• Provide second-level and third-level technical support for complex hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Support Microsoft 365, Windows Server environments, Active Directory, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to the IT Support Officer.
• Lead the implementation of new IT projects and technology initiatives.
• Manage IT vendors, software licensing, and technology procurement.

Information Security & Compliance

• Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect organizational systems and data.
• Monitor system logs and investigate security incidents.
• Ensure regular backups, disaster recovery readiness, and business continuity.
• Maintain compliance with organizational IT policies and regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and asset inventories.
• Prepare periodic reports on network performance, security, system availability, and ongoing IT projects.
• Recommend technology upgrades and innovations that improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4–6 years\' experience in network administration, systems administration, or application support.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, and firewall administration.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms.
• Working knowledge of web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, or ASP.NET.
• Experience supporting databases such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, backup solutions, and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and project management skills.
• Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified, ITIL, or relevant cloud certifications will be an added advantage.
