    Monitoring and Evaluation Associate

    Malaria continues to pose a major public health challenge in Africa, causing hundreds of thousands of deaths each year. While artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) remain highly effective and are the recommended treatment for uncomplicated malaria, the emergence of resistance to artemisinin and partner drugs in other regions presents a growing threat. Although no confirmed artemisinin resistance has been reported in Nigeria, its emergence would have serious consequences for malaria treatment, disease control, and public health.

    This position will support the multi-country Scaling the Optimal Use of Multiple ACTs to Prevent Antimalarial Drug Resistance (STOP-AMDR) project. The goal of STOP-AMDR project is to contribute to efforts in protecting the efficacy of existing ACTs thus reducing malaria mortality and case incidence in Africa. The Project will connect operational research and implementation learning with market shaping efforts to steer catalytic change through the adoption of Multiple First-line Therapies (MFTs) as a key strategy to mitigate or slow-down the spread of resistance to artemisinin and partner drugs. 

    Therefore, seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Optimizer to join the STOP-AMDR team. The M&E Temp will work with the Data Analyst and M&E Lead to achieve project goals efficiently and effectively. This role involves collaborating with project stakeholders to collect and analyze service delivery data, develop reports, and offer actionable insights for continuous improvement, ensuring data quality.

    Responsibilities

    • Support facility level data quality through onsite verification of entries on service delivery registers.
    • Support the facility and LGA to correct data errors identified using a systematic approach and tool (change log).
    • Support the monthly data validation, ensuring all data quality dimensions.
    • Has the skill to administer and supervise structured questionnaires and research data collection
    • Support institutionalization and/or strengthening of integrated data management system at the state and LGA level
    • Support the health providers to review data from their registers to identify gaps and proffer solutions.
    • Support research/assessment that will inform project learnings.
    • Monitor weekly uploads and ensure timely harmonization of monthly data.
    • Experience in using Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), ODK, Kobo Toolbox, etc.
    • Escalate critical issues requiring management intervention
    • Support administrative activities and stakeholders’ management.
    • Participate in meetings and communicate with stakeholders to share progress and get feedback.
    • Document best practices, lessons learned, success stories and activity reports to share with the project team and stakeholders as may be required.
    • Address any other M&E related issues as they present.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, social science, statistics, computer science, health informatics or a related field.
    • 4-5 years of work experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, preferably in a quality improvement project or related field.
    • Proven track record of conducting data analysis and producing high-quality reports.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Package.
    • Strong ability in implementing research data collection using tools like, Excel, Redcap, Kobocollect
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
    • Familiarity with donor/national requirements and reporting standards.
    • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
    • Knowledge of local languages and cultural contexts is an advantage.
