Medical Laboratory Scientist at AFRILAB Medical Diagnostics

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The successful candidate will ensure quality control of laboratory procedures and results, maintain a safe and efficient laboratory environment, and provide technical support to other laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct a variety of laboratory tests, including clinical chemistry, endocrinology, haematology, serology, microbiology & parasitology, and drug testing.
• Analyze and interpret test results accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy of test results.
• Prepare and manage laboratory reagents, supplies, and inventory.
• Document and maintain records of laboratory tests, procedures, and results.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other laboratory staff.
• Collaborate with medical professionals to provide accurate and timely test results.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the laboratory.
• Stay updated with the latest developments and best practices in medical laboratory science.
• Train and mentor junior laboratory staff and interns.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Valid certification and licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of safety and quality control procedures in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
