The Material Support Technician is responsible for managing the flow of tools, equipment, and materials essential for drilling, production, and maintenance operations. This role ensures timely delivery, accurate inventory tracking, and safe handling of materials in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Job Details
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Receive, inspect, and document incoming materials, including pipes, valves, drilling tools, and safety equipment.
Coordinate the storage and distribution of materials to rigs, platforms, or field locations.
Operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment in compliance with HSE standards.
Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Maximo).
Prepare and issue materials to fabrication, construction, or maintenance teams based on work orders and project schedules.
Support material traceability by documenting heat numbers, batch codes, and certifications.
Prepare kits and packages for offshore or remote site deployment.
Monitor stock levels and initiate restocking processes to prevent operational delays.
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, lubricants).
Support logistics and shipping operations, including customs documentation for international transport.
Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and field teams to ensure material availability.
Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with Client’s waste management and environmental procedures.
He liaises with COMPANY programmatic team for planning of short- and medium-term activities.
He checks and ensures that vital equipment on production sites is available as and when required.
He is responsible for identifying improvement opportunities and basic defect elimination from the day-to-day execution of work.
He is responsible for adhering to OIMS Work Management system.
Requirements
High school diploma or technical certification in logistics, supply chain, or industrial operations.
4 years of experience in material handling within oil & gas or heavy industry.
Familiarity with Client’s material control procedures and ERP systems.
Basic understanding of electrical, instrument, mechanical parts, welding materials, piping components, and structural steel.
