    Material Scientist

    About Our Client:

    Our client is a leading fabricator of specialized components used in upstream oil and gas drilling operations. With a focus on innovation and quality, they have earned a reputation for delivering high-performance products that meet the demanding requirements of the industry.

    Role Summary:

    As a Material Scientist, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and testing materials used in the fabrication of oil and gas drilling equipment. You will work closely with engineers and production teams to optimize material performance and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Research and develop new materials and processes for use in oil and gas drilling equipment.
    • Conduct laboratory experiments and tests to evaluate the properties and performance of materials.
    • Analyze data and test results to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to select materials and processes that meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
    • Provide technical support and expertise to address material-related issues and challenges during product development and production.
    • Stay informed about advancements in materials science and technology and assess their potential applications in the oil and gas industry.
    • Develop and maintain documentation and specifications for materials and processes used in production.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols in the development and use of materials.
    • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and ensure quality and consistency.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
    • Proven experience in materials research and development, preferably in the oil and gas industry or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of materials science principles, including structure-property relationships, phase transformations, and material characterization techniques.
    • Experience with laboratory testing and analysis methods, such as mechanical testing, microscopy, spectroscopy, and thermal analysis.
    • Proficiency in materials modeling and simulation software is a plus.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw conclusions.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
