    Managing Director

    Job Description

    • Are you an experienced and dynamic professional in the financial services sector? Our client a microfinance bank is seeking a talented individual to join their team as the Managing Director.
    • In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing both human and capital resources of the organization towards the achievement of business goals and objectives.
    • The suitable candidate will provide strategic leadership and coordinate both intra and inter departmental activities in line with the Vision and Mission of the Bank.

    Key Responsibilities
    Business Oversight:

    • Carry out regular SWOT analysis to mitigate any potential risks through industry and market changes
    • Prepare yearly budget for board approval and manage resources within those budget guidelines and within ethical corporate governance guidelines
    • Oversee all operational and business activities to drive productivity and achieve the desired results which are consistent with the overall strategy of the bank
    • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions/recommendations
    • Implement initiatives to drive revenue, lower operating costs while maintaining quality output

    Business Development & Customer Service Excellence:

    • Develop and implement marketing strategies aimed at attracting new businesses and retaining existing customers
    • Develop and implement the annual budget and marketing plan to increase market presence, market share and to drive revenue growth
    • Develop and maintain relationships with major customers, prospects, bankers and investors

    People Management and Operational Performance:

    • Lead, manage, mentor and develop a strong management team and workforce
    • Promote the wellness of staff and implement practices and policies that are compliant with labor legislations and international best practices
    • Manage human resources, including the attraction, hiring and retention of top talent
    • Provide strategic input and direction for the development of performance targets, including on-going monitoring to ensure achievement of set targets
    • Ensure compliance with all industry regulations and guidelines, legal and statutory requirements and all other regulations which may affect the organization
    • Responsible for business growth and operational soundness across all branches

    Business Strategy:

    • Identify and prioritize issues/opportunities on an on-going basis and recommend strategies to the Board to drive shareholder value and increase the overall financial position of the company
    • Define strategic initiatives to position the business in a sustainable growth path and drive the implementation thereof
    • Manage relationships with Investors, regulatory agencies, creditors and other partner institutions.
    • Developing high quality business strategies and ensuring their alignment with shortterm and long-term objectives

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related fields
    • An M.Sc., MBA or other relevant Post-Graduate Qualification
    • Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA
    • Evidence of completion of the Microfinance Certification program
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in banking across business development, finance, Compliance and risk management departments
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior management level in a reputable Microfinance Bank.
    • Business Development: Strong selling and broad business development skills
    • Leadership: Inspires and leads others towards high levels of performance
    • Problem Solving and Analysis: Ability to analyze complex policy issues, draw correct conclusions and articulate clear and focused solutions.
