Manager - IP Edge Planning, Network at MTN Nigeria

Description

• Develop a roadmap and strategy for cost effective and sustainable transformation of the IP Edge, Internet upstream and Datacenter networks into a Next generation network.
• Oversee the plan and design for nodes, sites and links within the IP Edge, Internet Upstream and Datacenter Networks and ensure ongoing development to cater for new developments in the organization’s business plan.
• Strategic planning (brainstorming with all relevant departments) of IP Edge, Internet Services and Datacenter network.
• Ensure that all the licensing requirements are met and controls budget directly related to any upgrades or licensing requirements
• Maintain capacity and functionality requirements timely and ahead of traffic for the IP Edge, Internet Upstream and Datacenter network elements.
• Oversee the issues relating to resource requirements to complete critical design, planning and process tasks
• Supervise and produce network topology, architecture and infrastructure redundancy plan for IP Edge, Internet service and Datacenter integration.
• Interface with PS Core network, IT/S Team, IP Network operations, ENS, Transmission Services for planning of the IP Edge, Internet Services and Datacenter connectivity, capacity planning and allocation for efficient transport of all internal and external customer data traffic.
• Oversee plan, deploy and evolve Quality and Class of Service techniques at the network Edge and Datacenters.
• Supervise all IP Edge and Datacenter integration events, approve work orders and control project processes for capacity expansion, node integration and/or new service introduction.
• Conduct weekly & monthly network performance monitoring, trend analyses, capacity planning and expansion in line with network growth trends and increases in all traffic/Service. (IP Edge, Internet, Datacenters).
• Plan, schedule and conduct site visits and surveys for accurate and effective network design, dimensioning and integration planning.
• Ensure IP Edge Network and Datacenter performance and optimization inputs are reflected in new designs & configuration to ensure alignment with performance strategy and KPIs
• Define IP Edge, Internet Upstream and Datacenter reference architecture (IT & telecoms) to ensure efficiency and optimal performance of the networks.
• Ensure that technology, infrastructure, topology and capacity are designed to achieve performance KPIs as well as marketing and sales targets
• Manage the CAPEX/OPEX Budget and support the end-to-end business planning process (PPOE presentation, BoQ and Equipment ordering)
• Obtain inputs and validate the MTN IP Edge, Internet and Datacenter Network reference architecture with key MTN partners.
• Evaluate and manage outsourced/third-party technologies and hosting environments to ensure they provide adequate protection for the processing, transmission, and storage of MTN’s information.
• Integration of designs to enterprise solutions such as response, monitoring, authentication, compliance etc.
• Provide periodic feedback to management about IP Edge, Internet and Datacenter Projects and Programs.
• Support the implementation of local and Group wide projects, services and products.

Requirements
Education:

• First Degree in Computer Science / Electrical Electronics or a related discipline.
• Post-graduate /Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
• Fluent in English

Experience:

• 6 - 13 years’ experience which includes:

Understanding of high-capacity Packet & TDM transmission technologies & products, e.g. SDH, DWDM.

Working knowledge of IP/MPLS, ACI, SDN, QOS standards & Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, MPLS etc.

Knowledge of advanced IP routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, etc.).

Experience working in a medium to large organization

Extensive experience in ICT & Telecoms Service Provider network.
