Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for managing the maintenance, repair, and servicing of equipment and machinery used in the construction process.
This role will ensure all equipment is functioning optimally to avoid costly downtime and ensure the smooth progression of construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with construction machinery, a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs - Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on construction equipment, machinery, and tools to ensure operational efficiency and safety standards are met.
Troubleshooting - Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical issues, providing swift and effective solutions to prevent delays in project timelines.
Record Keeping - Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repair logs, service schedules, and inventory of spare parts.
Collaboration - Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other engineering teams to ensure equipment is ready and available for use at all times.
Compliance and Safety - Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
Spare Parts Management - Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and materials, ensuring the timely ordering and storage of critical components.
Reporting - Provide regular reports to senior management on the status of equipment, ongoing repairs, and any major issues that could impact project timelines.
Emergency Response - Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns on site and manage repairs to minimize downtime.
Upgrades and Improvements - Suggest and implement upgrades or improvements to enhance the longevity, performance, and safety of machinery and equipment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related field. Relevant technical certifications in maintenance or equipment management are a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance engineering, preferably within the construction or heavy equipment industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in construction machinery.
Ability to diagnose and solve complex technical issues quickly and effectively under pressure.
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with team members, management, and external vendors.
Valid driver’s license. Relevant certifications in safety management, heavy machinery, or similar areas are preferred.
Skills:
Experience with construction cranes, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, or similar heavy machinery.
Planning and carrying out scheduled maintenance on brands such as CAT, VOLVO, JCB, KOMASTU, DYNNAPAC.
Leading team of maintenance mechanics and guiding them to ensure the corrects filters and lubricants are being replaced on time.
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of safety regulations in construction and machinery operation.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and construction environments.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including working at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
