The Logistics Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end flow of logistics and customs-clearing processes.
This includes liaising with customs, coordinating agents and transport, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, managing documentation, and driving timely delivery of goods to clients.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and skilled in operational follow-through and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Customs Liaison & Operational Flow:
Ensure smooth operations across the logistics chain.
Liaise with customs officers and ensure all required clearances are secured.
Confirm the job type (Direct, Indirect, or Fast-Track) and coordinate accordingly.
Maintain regular follow-up with clearing agents on file progression until TDO issuance.
Rate Advising & Quote Management:
Provide rate advice for quotations and logistics jobs.
Coordinate with team members to finalize quotes and follow up as needed.
Agent Allocation:
Work with the Managing Director to assign agents to specific clearing and haulage tasks.
Ensure that the most suitable agent is selected for each job to optimize efficiency.
Loading &Transport Coordination:
Allocate Truck Dispatch Order (TDO) and waybill to the assigned agent.
Ensure units are loaded within 24 hours of TDO allocation.
Track gate-out activities and ensure proper follow-up by designated agents.
Clearing Operations Management:
Secure necessary statutory clearances (e.g., SON, FOU, and enforcement).
Handle logistics for fast-track examinations in collaboration with customs.
Monitor gate-out and ensure compliance with port and customs protocols.
Financial Oversight:
Raise 80–90% of transport fees immediately after gate-out.
Monitor and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding agent and client payments.
Client Delivery & Payment Coordination:
Monitor delivery of goods to client locations and confirm safe arrival.
Follow up on and push for final payments post-delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
3 – 5 years of experience in logistics, customs clearing, or transport coordination.
Deep understanding of Nigerian customs and port operations.
Knowledge of statutory regulatory bodies (SON, FOU, etc.).
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders under pressure.
