The Legal Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s legal affairs and ensuring full regulatory compliance across all operations. The role focuses on contract management, corporate governance, regulatory advisory, litigation management, risk mitigation, and strategic legal support.
The Legal Manager plays a critical role in protecting the company’s interests across fleet operations, driver engagements, corporate partnerships, vendor relationships, and regulatory interactions, while enabling business growth through sound legal guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advisory support to management on operational, commercial, and strategic matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including driver agreements, corporate (B2B) contracts, vendor agreements, fleet leasing agreements, and partnership arrangements.
Ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian laws, transportation regulations, and corporate governance standards.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and enforcement authorities.
Manage and oversee litigation, disputes, claims, and pre-litigation matters.
Coordinate with external counsel where necessary and monitor case progress.
Identify legal risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
Review and update company policies to ensure legal compliance.
Support HR on employment-related legal matters, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.
Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
Maintain proper documentation and contract management systems.
Provide legal input on new business initiatives, fleet expansion, and commercial partnerships.
Requirements
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree.
Minimum of 5 years post-call experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Strong background in corporate, commercial, regulatory, or transportation law.
Experience in mobility, fin-tech, logistics, or technology-driven companies have an advantage.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
