    Journalist

    Purpose of Position:

    At LBS Management Hub, the Journalist will play a pivotal role in researching, writing, and producing content relevant to industries across Africa. This includes
    crafting monthly newsletters spotlighting significant industry trends, success stories, and pertinent business news. Additionally, the Journalist will create insightful business articles addressing critical gaps within the African business landscape.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/KEY JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    include but not limited to the following:

    • Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, events, and success stories.
    • Develop informative and engaging journalistic content.
    • Availability to get data from open market when necessary
    • Conduct interviews with industry experts, professionals, and thought leaders.
    • Craft compelling business articles that align with the organization’s objectives.
    • Collaborate with Academic Writers to copy-edit contributions to the Hub.
    • Optimize content for online platforms, ensuring it is visually appealing and engaging.

    COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

    • Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and engaging content suitable for various mediums, including newsletters, articles, and reports.
    • Ability to write with relevant keywords to rank well on search engines, including Google and Microsoft Bing.
    • Ability to conduct thorough research to gather accurate information and insights on industry
    • trends, success stories, and business news across Africa.
    • Adherence to ethical standards and principles of journalism, including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity in reporting and storytelling.
    • Flexibility to work on diverse topics and adjust the writing style to suit different audiences and publication formats.
    • A keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in fact-checking, grammar, and spelling.
    • Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
    • Understanding of key industries and sectors in Africa, as well as familiarity with relevant business concepts and terminology.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members interview subjects, and communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
    • Ability to think creatively and generate innovative ideas for storytelling and content creation that captivates and engages the audience.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Good first degree in Journalism or Mass Communication from a reputable tertiary institution.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Previous experience in an A-rated national daily with evidence of published business articles.
