    Intern Web Developer (Africa-Wide)

    Job Description

    And as we are in the process of going to the market with our solutions, we are seeking the services of an Intern Web Developer who will work with us tomake this happen.

    The ideal candidate(s) would be responsible alongside Colleagues for creating, updating, and maintaining cutting edge web products and enhancements which would enable the Company fulfil its mission and objectives to its Users. The candidate(s) would be proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, Drupal, Socket.io and many other industry technologies which are necessary for the Company to remain at the forefront of the industry. In addition, the candidate(s) would be able to do the following:

    Role Objectives

    • Consistently create well-designed tested codes using industry best practices for website development (mobile and static devices) site design
    • Create websites and user interfaces based on standard HTML/CSS practices while incorporating data from backend database(s) and or third party services
    • Create and maintain workflows alongside colleagues to provide visibility and to ensure load balancing and consistent winsome visual designs at all times
    • Develop and or validate testing schedules that would encompass and factor in redundancy requirements for all Users and User types/locations
    • Keep track of industry trends and prod the company in that direction if trend is positive and beneficial to the Company
    • Conduct Search Engine Optimisation and Social Media Optimisation activities
    • Be aware of existing and new competitors’ products and or services on a regular basis

    Responsibilities

    • Meet frequently with Company management to understand, refine business and functional requirements and to determine project scope(s) and specifications
    • Ensure software stability via regression and or other industry acceptable tools or methodologies
    • Develop and maintain strategic operational systems, tools, and processes as well participate in tactical and strategic development projects that would ensure Company’s website is always available for Users’ utilisation
    • Incorporate and implement quality assurance activities into the Company’s web infrastructure
    • Perform unit and user-acceptance testing(s) to identify bugs
    • Work remotely and interdependently to accomplish assigned tasks
    • Manage maintenance, updates, expansions, and scaling of each design
    • Work quickly, efficiently and carefully to complete all edits and corrections
    • Collaborate with Colleagues to suggest new solutions to improve existing designs
    • Work with the Brand Management Department to enforce brand consistency at all times
    • Create/work with Company’s Graphics Designers except where otherwise permitted
    • Perform UI/UX designs and coding as appropriate
    • Be proactive to research, develop, design, and recommend solutions to Self-, Unit-, Department- identified Company problems.
    • Create reusable objects and templates such as wireframes and eMail templates
    • Ensure design products and or services operations run successfully
    • Perform regular backups and database management activities
    • Conduct Company’s online advertisement activities
    • Be highly confidential with all Company’s data and activities
    • Conduct pilot and beta testing(s) from time to time
    • Be aware of the Data Processing laws of the various jurisdictions the Company operate in and enforce them by design as well as through regular scheduled and approved random Data Security Assurance Activities (DSAAs) e.g. through ethical hacking, admin privileges, firewall and backend access logs
    • Create and manage the Company’s corporate website on approved sub-domains
    • Manage the Company’s intranet sites and associated services
    • Develop creative, innovative and realistic plans for completing larger projects
    • Ensure website is secured against all forms of possible data and security breaches using industry leading technologies and or tools

    ·         Take on other duties as would be communicated to you from time to time

    • Report to the eInfrastructure Head directly subject to the Internship Category you are allocated to (please, see the document named Internship Categories for more details). This would be provided to you if successful.

    Qualifications

    • Experience planning and developing websites across multiple products and organisations
    • Proficiency in Content Management Systems including WordPress and Drupal
    • Working knowledge of web applications, programming languages, and web services, such as APIs, CSS, CSS3, cross-browser compatibility, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, REST,  SOAP, web user interface design (UI) and industry design and security best practices,
    • Dedication to producing innovative sophisticated designs and committed to independent  and collaborative problem solving
    • Working experience in Windows, Android, Chrome OS and Linux environments
    • Experience designing web monetisation products and or services
    • Proven success in a project coordination or implementation role
    • Experience implementing and using modern web development workflows and operations using a variety of tools such as GitHub, Stack Overflow, Asana, and Visual Studio

    • Thirty-five (35) hours per week Mondays to Fridays (09:00 AM - 05:00 PM)
    • Interdependent remote work
