  • The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies is Nigerias apex Institution for research and advanced studies in law. It was a brainchild of the legal academic community established in March 1979. One of the main ideas in founding the Institute was to establish it as the centre for advanced legal research for all the Nigerian universities with Faculties of Law, so that all postgraduate work could be undertaken there under the joint auspices of the most experienced and learned academic lawyers available in the country, whether indigenous or foreign. The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies hereby announces the process of filling the vacant position in the Institute.     Institute Librarian

    Responsibilities

    • The Institute Librarian is responsible to the Director-General for the overall administration of the Library of the Institute, which serves as the research hub of the Institute.

    Requirements

    • By direct appointment of a Doctorate Degree holder in Library Science from a recognised university plus a minimum of Fifteen (15) years of cognate experience.
    • The candidate must have a professional qualification in Library Science with recognised professional membership in the Librarian cadre, such as the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) and the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
    • The candidate must have an acceptable number of academic publications, with a minimum of Twenty (20).
    • Computer literacy is essential, and a degree in Law is an added advantage.
    • The Librarian cadre is purely an academic outfit, and the candidate will handle this strategic office accordingly.

    Salary & Condition of Service
    As applicable and obtainable in Nigerian public universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

    Tenure of Office

    • The Three (3) Principal Officers will each serve a tenure of Five (5) years.
    • Candidates seeking these offices should not be more than Fifty-Eight (58) years of age on assumption of office.
