Introduction
Integrated Child Health and Social Service Award (ICHSSA 4) is a - five year, USAID – funded project (December 2019 to November 2024). The project is designed to reduce the impact of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) on orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Adamawa and Bauchi states respectively.
ICHSSA is implemented by Pro Health International (PHI) in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), alongside Civil Society Organizations responsible to case management at the community and household levels. ICHSSA 4 will ensure that OVC are cared for and protected by their households, communities, local and state governments. The project will also ensure that communities promote child and family friendly, prevent Gender based violence (GBV) and promote gender and HIV sensitive cultural norms and practices.
PHI intends to implement the Imsafer sexual violence prevention curriculum in Adamawa and Bauchi states. Imsafer is a dual-gender program that teaches adolescent girls to set boundaries, stand up and defend themselves and adolescent boys to challenge rape culture, ask for consent and intervene in attacks. Research has shown a 47% decrease in the incidence of sexual assaults among girls taught Impower curriculum which has been adapted for use in Nigeria under a new name, Imsafer the broad aim of the Imsafer Program is to engender a safe, empowered and inclusive society appropriate for girls and boys to fully develop, thrive and contribute to community and national development.
Position Description
PHI is collaborating with No Means No Worldwide to implement Imsafer adolescent program, the evidence based child safety and violence prevention program. By participating in this training and teaching Imsafer classes in your community, the Imsafer Adolescent Program Instructors will be part of an international and local champions working actively to end gender-based violence and the global rape epidemic.
Instructors will first go through an intensive 6-weeks curriculum-based training on violence prevention, intervention and recovery. The training will include both in-person contact to review recorded training materials and live virtual sessions delivered in English language 4 days each week. After the training, Imsafer Adolescent Program Instructors will be deployed to teach adolescents and youth in communities where the ICHSSA 4 project is implemented.
