The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department in the effective management of staff across all units of GUO Transport & GUO Logistics, including drivers, operations staff, and administrative personnel.
Responsibilities
Assist in job postings, candidate shortlisting, and interview scheduling
Coordinate onboarding processes for new hires and ensure completion of documentation (CVs, credentials, guarantor forms, medicals, etc.)
Prepare employment letters and onboarding materials
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (both physical and digital)
Manage staff database.
Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of personnel records
Support HR audits and compliance checks
Assist in payroll preparation including collation of attendance, leave, overtime, and allowances
Support administration of employee benefits such as HMO, pension, and insurance
Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and HR-related issues
Assist in handling staff complaints and escalate issues where necessary
Support disciplinary processes and documentation
Coordinate staff welfare initiatives and engagement activities
Assist in organizing training programs.
Maintain training records and track employee development needs
Support performance appraisal and evaluation processes
Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and company HR policies
Monitor validity of operational staff documentation (e.g., driver’s licenses, permits)
Assist in preparing HR reports (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc)
Schedule HR meetings and take minutes where required
Provide general administrative support to the HR department
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
1–3 years’ experience in HR or administrative role (transport/logistics experience is an advantage)
Basic knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
