Health Safety Environment Supervisor at Rosettee Construction

Job Summary

• The Safety Officer/Assistant Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment on site by monitoring compliance with safety regulations, conducting daily safety briefings, and assisting in enforcing HSE policies. This role involves identifying and reporting hazards, supporting incident investigations, ensuring emergency preparedness, and acting as a liaison between workers, visitors, and the HSE team to foster a culture of safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor site safety compliance daily, including PPE usage.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and briefings on site-specific hazards.
• Assist in enforcing HSE policies and site rules among workers and subcontractors.
• Report unsafe acts and conditions immediately to the HSE Officer or Site Supervisor.
• Assist during emergency evacuations and drills, guiding workers to assembly points.
• Inspect work areas regularly to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Support incident/near-miss reporting and assist in preliminary investigations.
• Ensure first aid kits and fire extinguishers are in place and accessible on site.
• Remind workers to maintain good housekeeping practices (e.g., clear walkways, proper material stacking).
• Act as the liaison between workers and the HSE Officer for safety concerns.
• Ensure visitors and new workers receive site safety inductions before entry.
• Observe high-risk activities (e.g., working at heights, confined spaces) and stop unsafe operations if immediate danger is observed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

• HND/B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 1–3 years of relevant HSE supervision experience, preferably within the construction industry.

Professional Certification:

• NEBOSH, ISPON, IOSH (added advantage), or equivalent certification (required).
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards (added advantage).

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent knowledge of HSE laws, risk assessment, and emergency procedures.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting tools.
• High attention to detail and commitment to safety excellence.
• Integrity, vigilance, and the ability to influence compliance diplomatically.
