    Head, Strategy

    • The role is responsible for supporting the executive team and business leaders to create, analyze, and execute strategic and operational initiatives to maximize company performance and long-term shareholder value. Addressing critical business issues, to shape the strategic agenda for the company, and to develop practical plans to capture growth opportunities across client segments, markets and products lines.

    ROLE COMPLEXITY

    • Role requires strong mental and physical efforts as role holder is expected to demonstrate very good understanding of the job content. Role holder is expected to initiate, influence, set direction and display good understanding and foresights of business or functional mandate. Deep working knowledge of broad principles and concepts, applications, processes, systems and techniques should be displayed as role begins to lead/coach others.

    FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Strategy formulation – Support the executive management in developing and launching strategic initiatives to include, developing strategic frameworks to analyze the existing activity as well as new market opportunities.
    • Translate broad guidelines into specific operational plans and programs.
    • Financial Analysis – develop the financial and economic models that support the assessment and underlying valuation of potential opportunities i.e. market sizing, financial forecasts as well as additional financial analysis as appropriate.
    • Collate and document the company’s strategic business plans.
    • Lead consulting engagements including strategic, financial and organizational analysis, development and evaluation of recommendations, and implementation of solutions.
    • Coordinate the assessment and monitoring of industry/competitor activities, new developments and identify impact on company’s operation.
    • Continually review and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the department’s policies, procedures and processes and identify improvement opportunities in line with the defined corporate performance framework.
    • Monitor the implementation of the company’s, short, medium and long term strategic goals and objectives
    • Demonstrate the necessary professionalism and senior presence required to interface with corporate executives on a regular basis and partner with business owners.
    • Any other additional tasks that may be assigned as required by the business.

    KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS

    • Support and facilitate execution of strategic/capital projects and initiatives - to aid portfolio management decisions
    • Conduct Opportunity assessments for Microinsurance, Cyber Insurance and Agric Insurance.
    • Periodically assess and monitor industry competitor activities, new developments and identify impact on company operations (should include distribution, products and pricing)
    • Support and facilitate the production of performance reports for the board and management (Quarterly or on request)
    • Support SMCD for investor relations requests for each quarter.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Economics or Commerce or a related discipline;
    • MBA from a top-tier school with a demonstrated track record of progressive responsibility post-MBA will be preferred
    • 7-10 years' relevant experience, including three to five years in strategy development and corporate initiatives
    • Experience in a large strategy consulting firm as well as in the financial sector would be a definite asset.
