    Head of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment

    Description

    • A market leader in fruit juices, fruit drinks, and value-added dairy in Nigeria is looking to recruit for the role of Head of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment.
    • The candidate will manage the entire Quality Assurance, Systems, Regulatory and HSE budget so, he or she must have a rounded experience with factory & and logistics/warehousing safety, road safety, and environment ( water, air, effluent treatment, etc.)
    • The Candidate will oversee and ensure overall quality and consistency of the raw materials and finished products, to meet the company’s objectives, regulatory standards, and customer expectations.
    • Ensure all products meet or exceed industry standards and best practices. Drive and ensure compliance with regulatory/statutory (ISO, NAFDAC, SON, Halal, OSHAS etc.) organization and standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate processes to ensure the organization’s production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the organization's quality, integrity, and efficiency standards.
    • Drive the strategic and tactical responsibility for implementing Quality, Sustainability, Regulatory and HSE strategy for the Organization with strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product quality.
    • Drive non-negotiable quality adherence on the production lines for high-quality finished products internally, and with external partners such as third-party manufacturers, raw material/packaging vendors, distributors, etc.
    • Drive the organization’s quality management framework in line with overall quality objectives and take ownership of translating into operational policies, procedures, and detailed manufacturing guidelines. Ensure Quality is the bedrock of everything that we do.
    • Drive Full accountability for the operations, management, and adherence of the laboratory for optimal raw materials, finished goods and product monitoring for excellent customer experience.
    • Proactively keep abreast of trends/updates impacting Quality management/Control and make appropriate recommendations to management.
    • Accountable, drive, direct and coordinate the Organization’s quality management systems and procedures including the ISO, NAFDAC, SON, FSSC, HACCAP, MANCAP, GMP and other relevant regulatory certifications / Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Drive the maintenance and management of environmental health, safety and well-being through systems, audit/ inspection and the establishment of high standards and expectations on employees of service excellence and safety awareness behaviors/performance.
    • Establish the Organization’s commitment to improving Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance by implementing health safety and environment objectives and compliance with local regulatory requirements, to prevent injury and maintain a safe working environment.
    • Accountable, drive and update the Organization’s care unit processes and procedures with the best standards for optimal customer experience and retention.
    • Maintain the occupational hazard and safety tolerance (OHS) level in the Organization.
    • Establish the articulation of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) KPIs, targets and implementation plans for enforcing, monitoring, and reporting these KPIs across the business and its value chains.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor systems to collect, collate and present information on quality control for product performance management and benchmarking.
    • Develop and manage relationships with regulatory bodies and agencies to ensure timely compliance with changing regulations and quick adoption of best practices.
    • Ensure validation trials on production are carried out and issue product release certificates.
    • Establish storage requirements and evaluate storage conditions to ensure that standard practices are followed.
    • Lead and effectively manage the performance of subordinates/team members towards the achievement of unit, functional and organizational objectives.

    Qualifications

    • First Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or other related fields
    • A Master’s Degree or professional certifications in related fields will be an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 15 years cognate experience. Food and Beverage industry experience is mandatory.
