Job Summary

The Handyman will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of essential systems and equipment across corporate offices, base facilities, and guest houses. This includes plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical components, kitchen and laundry equipment, and office furniture. The ideal candidate will ensure that all facilities are functional, safe, and aesthetically maintained to the highest standards.

Job Details

1. Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, faucets, drainage, and water heaters.
2. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioners, water dispensers, refrigerators, heaters, and ventilation systems.
3. Perform electrical repairs such as fixing faulty wiring, light fixtures, switches, and power outlets.
4. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. 
5. Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings. 
6. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. 
7. Communicate each day’s activities and problems that occur to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards. 
8. Maintain and repair kitchen and laundry equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines.
9. Repair and maintain office furniture, such as desks, chairs, cabinets, painting, minor civil works and other fixtures.

Installation and Upgrades

1. Install new equipment and systems, including plumbing fixtures, HVAC components, electrical appliances, and furniture.
2. Upgrade existing infrastructure as needed to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety standards.

Preventative Maintenance

1. Conduct regular inspections of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and other systems to identify potential issues.
2. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. 
3. Schedule and carry out routine servicing of equipment to prevent breakdowns.

Facility Management Support

1. Ensure all guest houses and corporate facilities are in excellent condition for staff and visitors.
2. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from office staff and guests.
3. Keep maintenance logs and ensure all activities are documented for record-keeping.
4. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. 
5. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and maintenance team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. 

Requirements

1. National Diploma, City and Guilds or equivalent in electrical and electronics; technical or vocational training is an advantage.
2. Certification in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical work is highly desirable.
3. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in facility maintenance or similar roles.
