• Appointment to professorial ranks is subject to external assessment of candidate's publications and general contributions to knowledge and national development.
• Candidate who has never taught in any University before cannot be appointed directly to the rank of a Professor or Associate Professor.
• For appointment to professorial ranks, a candidate must show academic leadership through postgraduate supervision and be able to attract research grant from both local and international funding agencies.
