Government and External Affairs Manager at Cavista

Job Description

We are seeking an External Affairs Director who will become a key driver in shaping a favorable business environment, advocating for our interests, and forging critical partnerships with governmental agencies, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders. 

In this pivotal role, you'll leverage your policy analysis expertise and networking prowess to shape public policies, drive organizational growth, and make a lasting impact on executing our vision and mission.

Responsibilities:

• Execute the mission of Cavista Holdings with focus on Nigeria, build strong stakeholder relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
• Monitor and analyze relevant policy and regulatory developments that may impact the company's operations or market position.
• Inform Cavista Holdings business leaders of policy and regulatory trends and developments, and coordinate with them on the development and execution of the portfolio companies’ agenda to protect and secure business growth.
• Lead advocacy efforts in Nigeria on issues of importance to the group of companies, to ensure effective strategy toward shared goals.
• Represent the company at meetings, conferences, and events with external stakeholders to advance our interests and promote our brand.
• Collaborate with internal teams across the businesses to develop and execute strategies and provide local market intelligence to the businesses. 
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in government affairs and external relations.
• Be a significant role model of the Cavista Holdings Culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Business, or a related field.  
• Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in government affairs, external relations, or public affairs.
• Strong understanding of government structures, policy development processes, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to navigate complex political landscapes and build relationships at all levels of government and industry associations.
• Demonstrated ability to strategize, plan, and execute initiatives to achieve specific advocacy objectives.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess the impact of policies on the company's operations and make data-driven recommendations.
• Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle challenges with a solution soriented approach.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications. • Ability and willingness to travel up to 60%
