The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager's role is to coordinate, implement, and manage the organization's Internet-based strategies and initiatives for GIS software.
This individual is responsible for ensuring the development and maintenance of applications based upon spatially referenced data and digital mapping.
Responsibilities
Lead, coordinate, and manage all aspects of GIS implementations.
Participate in design of new GIS analysis methodologies, applications, and strategies.
Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure GIS security.
Design sophisticated raster- and vector-based GIS analysis and classifications.
Maintain and augment remote sensing and relational databases.
Coordinate and conduct GIS training sessions for GIS staff and end users with client-facing application needs.
Provide GIS guidance and support to the enterprise; act as single point of contact for GIS-related issues.
Job Requirements
B.Sc. in Geography, Computer Science or related field
Relevant certifications will be required.
At least 5 years work experience in a similar role
Strong familiarity with ArcGIS, ArcInfo, ArcEditor, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, and ArcView software products.
