    General Manager, Operations

    Candidate Profile

    • We are seeking a GM, Operations who will oversee the company’s manufacturing activities, leading strategic execution and coordinating resources to create excellent products. While they oversee Operations Coordinator, who take care of day-to-day details, it is also their job to make sure that deadlines are met, and standards are upheld.

    Key Area of Responsibilities
    General Management:

    • Provide general management and ensure the factory, its staff, equipment, and services are running without hitches.
    • Manage all external relations and ensure 100% compliance with all regulatory standards.
    • Coordinate all aspects of the business operations, including purchasing, manufacturing, warehousing, shipping/receiving, quality assurance to achieve organizational goals.
    • Implements, drives, and sustains key initiatives that support company’s strategic goals.

    Production Management:

    • Develop, implement, and continually monitor annual manufacturing plan to drive the performance of key result areas on production activities.
    • Ensures manufacturing performance and quality goals are met.
    • Meet regularly with respective managers within production to set key indicators for evaluating performance.
    • Optimally make sure that manufacturing units improve on the standard efficiencies in terms of Machine efficiencies, material yields, labor and overhead costs versus budget
    • Leads the development and deployment of manufacturing practices
    • focused on quality and continuous improvement.
    • Establishes systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity and set
    • performance targets that will meet revenue and cost goals.

    Factory Management and Maintenance:

    • Work with the Production Head to ensure the plant is running 24/7 at capacity utilization of 95% and limit downtimes to less than 2%.
    • Monitors the facility’s equipment needs and ensures that the technical team is working to keep the company’s equipment and physical facility properly maintained.
    • Works with the Operations Manager/Production Head to ensure that the facility’s operational activities and tactical actions are executed so that the plant’s working capital is properly managed.
    • Constantly assesses the facility’s operational efficiencies and seeks out opportunities to improve it in an economic manner.
    • Ensure spares are always available and replacements are swift, and that all supporting equipment are maintained in line with the required schedules.

    Supply Chain Management:

    • Ensure availability of raw material at least 150% of installed capacity. (work with an existing team of sourcing staff, agents around the country and build new networks).
    • Ensure average buying price over (3) months is 50% of the LME
    • Ensure general procurement is fast, smooth and within budget.

    Health Safety and Environment:

    • Ensure HSE Guidelines are followed to the letter and that the environment is a safe place for all to work in.
    • Lead audits/special reviews of operations and assessment of business risk and provide recommendations for strengthening existing internal controls.
    • Develop measures to mitigate incidents risk.

    Financial Planning:

    • Works to ensure that the facility’s financial goals are met, including monthly profitability and EBITDA targets.
    • Manage and maintain overhead and operating costs in accordance with budgets and strategic goals.
    • Maintain operational costs down within 2% of budget.
    • Manage finances, monitoring budgets, expenses, and product unit costs to drive revenue and margin projections.

    Logistics:

    • Coordinate the inbound, outbound, and shipping exports operations.
    • Ensure all finished products are loaded Just-In-Time and Bill of Lading is gotten within 14 to 21 days of production.

    People Management:

    • Develop and nurture a dynamic and competent workforce through a robust performance driven culture.
    • Review personnel performance to determine individuals most suited for promotion.
    • Promotes cross training to optimize workforce, ensures functional coverage, reduce labor costs, and supports succession planning.

    Reporting:

    • Ensure all the required data is captured in the Weekly and Monthly Production reports.

    Special Projects:

    • Participate in special projects as signed by the CEO/MD.

    Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • B.Sc. or MBA / M.Sc
    • Certifications in Operations /Project Management.

    Person Specification /Qualifications / Requirements

    • At least 15 years of progressive manufacturing/production experience
    • Relevant Experience as an Operations/ Manufacturing Head (5 years min)
    • Proven experience in practical Project Managemen
    • Experience in Strategy, Policies, Processes, and Procedure’s
    • development and its strategic execution
    • Experience in managing operational cost efficiently, financial planning and budgeting
    • Experience in developing and motivating a team of people.
    • Experience in handling and reporting operations information.
    • Experience in developing and implementing an operational
    • performance metrics and analyzing productivity
    • Prior work experience in using an ERP system (Odoo).
    • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Industrial or Chemical Engineering
    • other Engineering or Business.

    Knowledge / Understanding:

    • Working Knowledge of GMP’s, ISO guidelines related to industry.
    • Good knowledge HSE practices in production environment
    • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing and productionoperations
    • Working knowledge of establishing, and measuring operational KPI’s
    • Good understanding of Project Management principles and tools
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, ERP System
